Kathryn Hagy

Kathryn was born and raised in the Pacific Northwestern United States, but has traveled and lived in France, South Korea, Nepal, and the Eastern and Midwestern United States. Her early years in the Pacific Northwest, with its overcast skies and varied climate zones, influenced her artistic focus on natural phenomena and the ways nature obscures and reveals light. Kathryn’s more recent work still encompasses natural phenomena while investigating the concepts of place, ritual, and impermanence.

She holds a PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Iowa, an MFA in Painting/Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a BFA in Painting/Printmaking from the University of Washington.

Kathryn is the recipient of prestigious awards including a Fulbright Scholar Award for art research in Nepal and Sri Lanka and a MacDowell Colony Fellowship.
